WIAW: Play vs Work

Happy Wednesday! You know what reaching this lovely better-than-half-way-through-the-working-week day means? That’s right, WIAW with the lovely Jenn!

Today I thought I’d mix things up and show you how my eats vary depending on whether I’m at work or have the weekend off. So it’s another double edition WIAW – hope you enjoy!

First off, food from Sunday. We had a really chilled day, no exercising apart from a stroll around the shops. Lots of biscuits and choc. And detox tea.

* How does your eating change between work and play? Do you tend to buy prepared foods or make your own?

I like to prep my breakfast each morning but then it is down to timings. I always bring soup to the office but quite often it can remain there for a good few days as I don’t have the time to heat it up. Crazy life of a journalist for you!

  1. I just love your shortbread cookies. They are too cute :)

  2. Totally gonna do this next week. But which day will I pick?! Love your day of eating especially all the chocolate. I think it will be good for me to see what I actually eat.

I simply love pink lady apples- the best! All your desserts/sweets look so thoughtful and mindfully eaten though- in regards to your comment about your sugar intake…also the meals look delish. I’d love to try that veggie burger. Sounds scrumptious!

When I’m home I snack ALOT more than when I am out. Ho hum….

Glad to hook up with you- happy WIAW!

    • Thanks so much for stopping by :) Pink lady apples are so great and the ones I bought were massive. Nothing compares! The veggie burger was so good, really want to make it myself. I snack so much if I’m in one place for an extended period of time so always try and get myself out and busy, I have little self control!

I love this. My eating pattern on days I work is quite different than the weekends when I have more time to spend in the kitchen.

  5. I eat pretty differently at work- I have to have things I can eat quickly as I am too busy at lunch time to eat a massive salad or whatever. I normally have a sandwich or ryvita for lunch, with some fruit. I often have a cereal bar for a snack, and usually fit in half in the morning, and half after the kids go home.
At home I take my time to eat food, so I tend to have things that take longer to eat anyway.

  6. I have raging chocolate cravings pretty much every day :-p

  7. those nuggets just totally intrigue me. I still need to try cacao nibs

  8. Oooh, that cupcake mug is cute!
Don’t you ever excuse for eating chocolate :) ! It’s a necessity to keep sane during stressful times and – who am I kidding ;) ? – a even a daily one for me. It’s about the big picture after all.

While I as a student still have the luxury of being able to eat my meals at home most of the time it’ll likely change soon. During my intership semester, though, I tried to bring some kind of soup or stew to work every day, too. Which I more often than not ended up eating while typing at the computer :) . Hope you’re having some not quite that rushed days in between, too!

    • Thanks :) Chocolate is very important and I totally agree with what you say about the big picture. As long as I’m getting goodness in then I don’t mind treating myself :) . Well done for bringing soup and stews in, I really should get cooking every Sunday and make myself soups for the week. I always try to bring one in, just whether I get a chance to eat it! Still, never going to turn down a sushi lunch ;)

  9. Love all of the fish that you have been eating lately. Salmon and cod. Yum. Can’t say that I’ve ever tried cod, but for sure, as soon as one of the grocery stores near me carries a non-breaded, non-buttered piece of fish I will be all over it :)

    • I am such a fish fan, eat a portion pretty much every day. Cod is really good but can be quite expensive, I get frozen plain fillets that you cook in a bag, so convenient! Let me know how you like it when you give it a try :)

  10. I think I tend to have more of a routine during the week and then at the weekend I think I can eat a little more intuitively – I like ‘treating’ myself more on the weekend! I do need to try the apple and almond butter with cacao nibs very soon!

  11. I want that bag of beond nuggets :P I always end up taking a million tupperware pots to work with me for food during my shift, I’m usually pretty organized and rarely buy something out.

  12. yummy yummy, those shortbread cookies are so cute and look delicious

  13. I love the sound of beetroot and pine nut veggie burgers! I’m loving all things beetroot at the moment :)
Hope you’re having a great week so far! xx
