Happy Valentine’s Day to all of my beautiful readers! I hope you have been well and truly spoiled today – either by a significant other or by yourself.
I’ve never really observed a Hallmark Valentine’s Day but when I was growing up my Mum would always take the day to send us a card telling my sister and I how special we are and how much she loves us.
It seems some things never change – she sent this little love token and flowery card a few days ago.
The little bar of chocolates wasn’t the only sweet I received in the post – the lovely people at Swizzels-Matlow also sent me a selection of their latest sweets to try.
Their latest range features classics like the Double Lollies, Refreshers and Love Hearts in a squashy form! I must admit it is odd to have the traditional tastes in different textures but they were good! Plus, chewy sweets always seem to last longer for me.
I dug into the Love Hearts straight away in honour of the occasion. Did you used to read the messages when you were younger? James said he didn’t but I always checked out what was on the sweet before I ate it!
I carried on the homemade present theme by crafting James a card.
You can imagine my delight when I found an old Pritt Stick with Buzz Lightyear on it
James’s little stack of present from me – and a bag of sweets for my sweet tucked in the middle.
One of the highlights of my day? Having a hug from a very special and sleepy little man.
Can you see his little hand resting on mine? Gets me every time.
I was treated by James with some lovely presents, including another box of these incredible truffles! Can’t wait to dig in tonight.
Hope you had a wonderful day!

HOLY SHIZ i want to try all of those gummy candies. I adore any gummy candy but when there are gummy candies I haven’t tried I just get so overwhelmed and want to eat them all. i really really do
Haha I KNOW Alex, I was so excited when they came through the post. I have to try and eat any new sweeties that I come across!
That is so sweet of your mum.
I have never celebrated valentines, as I always think anniversaries are more special, but I had 2 late nights at work with parents evening, and when I got home last night Andy had cooked dinner for us which was lovely.
She’s too sweet sometimes
. Anniversaries are more special to me too, as it is a personal date. Your surprise dinner sounds wonderful, what a lovely thing to come home to!
I love it that your mum gives you a card, very sweet!
Thanks!
How lovely of your mum. Little gestures like that warm my heart. I think sometimes little gestures are nicer than big expensive presents.
Completely agree with you – it really is the thought that counts sometimes (unless there’s cars or diamonds involved
)
That card is so sweet! Happy Friday:)
Thanks Sunnie!
Homemade gifts are theee best, and I always find them to be the most thoughtful
.
Me too, love the extra time and effort that goes into crafting something special
