Can you believe it is time for another WIAW? I think it should stand for ‘Wow, it’s another Wednesday’ although clearly that slightly misses the point on the whole what I ate thing
.
Here are my eats from Saturday, you’ll see there are a few switches from my normal routine so it shouldn’t be too boring!
Also, if you’re interested in my previous WIAW posts, there’s now a tab on my homepage so you can find them easily. Or you can just click here.
WIAW is hosted by the lovely Jenn – go and check out what everyone else has been munching on!
I was booked in to try a new fitness session (review on the way) so had my tried and tested pre-new-workout breakfast.
Breakfast: Mixed berry Trek bar and a Yogi Tea Women’s Energy
After the workout I went for a walk around a nearby mall, which I don’t visit very often. I haven’t had a smoothie for I’m guessing about six years but I had an acute craving and decided to go with it, so visited Boost smoothie bar. I also visited the serve-yourself dried fruit and nut bar at Holland and Barrett and filled a large tub.
Lunch: A mini-me Mango smoothie (I checked twice that it was the smallest size, it was huge!) made with mango, passion fruit and greek yoghurt and half a tub of dried fruit and nuts.
I actually intended to have some soup or a ‘proper’ lunch but I was so stuffed after eating that many nuts, goji berries, apple slices and dates that I didn’t need one. Have you tried stuffing dates with pecans? Incredible. I blame the combo for my unstoppable hand reaching into the tub way more than was needed!
After lunch I returned home, showered and walked into town to do some chores. I grabbed a free coffee from Waitrose on the way and took a picture of it by the Clifton Suspension Bridge.
Snack: A cup of black coffee
After walking around lots, I was so ready for a hearty dinner and got cooking as soon as I reached home. I snacked on some avocado and pretzels as I waited for it to be ready.
Dinner: Grilled salmon and sweet chilli sauce wrapped in lettuce with sweet potato chips, sliced cucumber and avocado
It was such a good dinner, really filling but still felt light and clean. The sweet chilli sauce gave an awesome kick to the salmon and the avocado was perfectly ripe. Yum!
After sitting in a blissed out state for a while, I decided to make myself dessert. I was home alone and it felt very decadent but why not?!
Dessert: A cup of Yogi Tea Women’s Power, fried apples with greek yoghurt, toasted pecans and almond butter. Plus more almond butter in a little of the leftover yoghurt.
I also enjoyed a little rum and raisin fudge right before bed.
It was such a good and yummy day but I’m also proud of the lack of cake/sweets, which I’m really trying to cut down on. Fingers crossed next week will be just as good, if not better
Happy WIAW!

Wow I can’t believe its been that long since you had a smoothie! I can barely go a week without one
I know, it is crazy. I bought a smoothie maker years ago and resolved not to buy one. The smoothie maker stayed at home when I moved out and my pledge weirdly stuck!
Your salmon dinner looks amazing! I eat salmon about once a week, so I’m always looking for new ways of preparing it. Love the idea of adding sweet chili sauce!
Thanks Sam, you should give it a try, so tasty
You haven’t had a smoothie for that long? You make me look like an addict, ha!
I know, it is crazy. I loved it though! Think they might have to make a comeback
dried fruit does that too me, I can’t eat too much of it.
I have to admit I felt so ill after eating it Alex! Will have to cut it back in the future I think!
I love lettuce wraps!
They’re so good, right?!
So much to say! First, I LOVE stuffing dates with nuts! It’s an unbelievably satisfying snack that never fails to satisfy a sweet n’ salty craving.
Second, your salmon wraps look delicious! It’s been awhile since I’ve made lettuce wraps, but reading this post has definitely put them on my radar again. Third, that DESSERT! Oh my heavens, yum. Please tell me more about this rum and raisin fudge…?!
I can’t believe I hadn’t tried the nut/date combo before. I’d put nut butter inside but never a whole nut. Complete revelation! You should get lettuce wrapping – it’s awesome! And I need a partner in crime for my obsession. Haha I hoped I would be able to slip the fudge in and noone would notice. It was on offer Christmas Rum ‘n’ Raisin fudge and I ate pretty much an entire packet. So good.
Stuffed dates are my favourite treat, so good! I can’t believe you haven’t had a smoothie in that long, I can’t go a day without one ha!
I know, it’s weird! Well stuffed dates are on my menu big time and I’m determined to blow the dust of my smoothie maker at home and get creative
Holey Moley girl it’s been that long?? I don’t know how you did it??!!
I know! I can’t wait to try eating one from a bowl now
